Artist Statement
The reason I chose
this picture is because it shows the light fading and the person is looking at
the little light that is left and the reason I wrote this story to tell about
the things I went throw and how it has changed me. The story is about how life throws
dirt in your face and when you think its better it throws more, and it gets
harder to get up until you can’t get up any more. The picture helps show the
person in their dark times.
Flash Fiction
There was light in
the beginning the air was sweet you could hear the joy and laughter around you,
and you thought that it could go on forever and nothing would change it. Until
you found your dad collapsed in the backyard, and after that it started going downhill
from there. Your dad had a flesh-eating disease and had to have his leg
amputated so that it wouldn’t spared due to that he lost his job. Your mom had
to raise eight kids on her own while he was in the hospital. Things started to
get better or, so you thought. Your dad couldn’t do much of what he could us
to, and so you had to grow up fast helping where he couldn’t, then when you
thought things were settling down you end up moving. Leaving the only place,
you could call home, your friends you grow up with and your safe place. Moving
was hard you started a week late at a new school that year was shitty for you.
Falling behind in class barely pass each term, school came to an end summer
came and gone before you knew it. You were tired of being lonely and just wanted
school to start. The school year started you made new friends, life was
starting to turn around. You found out what you wanted to do with your life
getting in to the trades. Junior year came you couldn’t wait to see your
friends next year, summer started you had fun with your family, until your mom
told you that your transferring to another school. For the rest of your summer
you worried about starting a new school. You started your senior year at a new
school no friends and it’s your last year. You think nothing could get worst,
but then you find out your uncle has lung cancer. The world just stops the air
is salty you no longer hear joy and laughter around you. Your cold and lonely
the light starts to fade in to darkness except for that little flame you hang
on to hoping that it will start again before it’s too late.
Reflection
People in 1961 thought that your personality was defined by
your trades like kind, aggressive, quiet and more. They also believe that a “kind
person at the age 20 is still kind at 25” and that a criminal is a criminal no
matter how many years and that they won’t change. That’s because they didn’t
know a lot about personality back in 1961, but we have learned a lot about
personalities since then.
Personality is the combination of characteristics or
qualities that form an individual’s distinctive character (Hammond). Personality meth
said “Your personality is your core as a person that makes you who you are” ("Personality"). There
are four different types of personality such as Analysts, Diplomats, Sentinels,
and Explorers. 16personalities says that each
personality has different roles, Analyst are architects, logicians, commanders,
and debaters. Diplomats are advocates, mediators, protagonists, and
campaigners. Sentinels are logistician's, defenders, executives, and consuls.
Explorers are virtuoso's, adventurers, entrepreneurs, and entertainers ("Personalities").
I agree that our personality is define by our trades I
disagree that a criminal is a criminal because people change over time and your
personality develops over time as we get older. Throw 16personalities, I learned
that my personality type is Sentinel and my role as a sentinel is a defender
the strengths of a defender are supportive, reliable and patient, imaginative
and observant, enthusiastic, loyal and hard-working, and good practical skills.
The weakness of a defender is humble and shy, repress their feelings, overload
themselves, reluctant to change, and too altruistic each of these describe me,
so you should embrace your personality.

that sounds really rough! this is really insightful to your personality
ReplyDeleteI can tell you've been through a lot and it all means something to you. I can also tell that family means a lot to you. Your image and your flash fiction go well together, I like how to eyes glow like you're still full of light. Your reflection has a lot of great points that I hadn't thought of before.
