Flash Fiction
Don’t give up on yourself even when life is going down a dark path. Don’t let all the negative energy get the best of you, to the point you see no point in trying with anything anymore, and you just completely shut down. Don’t let stress and anxiety take control, you got this. You have to keep going, and moving forward because if you give up you will regret it, truly. Keep trying and trying, push yourself to be the best you can be because that's all you can do. Whenever life hits you with a bunch of bullshit, build off it. Don’t let it put you in the dark. Remember you are capable of getting through it because you know are strong. You know you will feel a big rush of relief once you overcome what you thought you couldn’t even compete with. You will feel yourself light up again. Don’t give up.

Artist Statement
Life can be hard at times, and it can really take a toll on your whole mindset. When everything that is coming at you  just begins to drown you in stress, it’s hard to want to keep going. You feel so in the dark But you have to, you can’t give in and let the negativity win and black out who you are because at the end of the day there is always going to be negativity in the air. You must remain strong and do everything you can to beat the stress, it will feel way more better then giving up. Once you get past all the bad stuff you thought you couldn’t you will feel amazing.
My self- portrait and fast-fiction work together well. As you see in the photo my face is just about to go all the way in the dark, but I refuse to let it. The dark resembles all the stress, and I can’t let it cover my whole face because that would be me letting the stress win. Refusing to let the darkness cover my face means I’m not giving up, I’m going to get through it and nothing will stop the process of succeeding.

Reflection
I’d like to say I did a decent job on this project. I actually took the time to do the work and actually tried to do a good job. I for the most part stayed up to date with the planning sheet which made it less stressful for me. As for the rest of the year so far, I have been doing okay, kind of struggling to find time to do homework and other school work outside of school because I work a lot. I understand perspectives, personality, and bias pretty well, but I learned a lot about bias that I didn’t really know before.

Ultimately speaking what influenced my self-portrait the most was my own perspective and my own experiences. Once we started talking about the project I immediately had ideas come to me about how I would do it, but I knew right away what I wanted to use for my flash-fiction. I probably could’ve used better ideas than what I did but I like what I came up with, except it was hard to choose a good portrait idea so I kind of just winged it a little and it worked for me.

Flash fiction AJ Wenger       Get out of bed and go to school. Don’t roll over and reset your alarm for another 10 minutes you know that 10 minutes is going to turn into an hour or two. You feel at the time that the extra sleep is so needed until you realize everything your missing at school will need to be made up. you know you’ll get that extra hour of sleep thinking its going to make you feel better the rest of the day but really when you get out of bed you’ll be bored and wished you would’ve gone. Every time you do this to yourself you start to get stressed out and wonder all day what you’re going to tell your parents when the attendance office calls them at 6. After all that stress you’ll go through a whole other wave of stress wondering when and how you can make up for the 7 classes you missed. By the end of the day you’ll realize that yet again you’ve accomplished nothing with your day but the thought of doing it all again tomorrow still is lingering in the b...

Dumb Decisions

Ben Bjornsen Flash Fiction: I am broke, because #race car. Artist Statement: My self-portrait is about my spending all my money on my hobby which is cars. I got into cars from my grandpa when I was a little kid. I didn’t realize how expensive stuff is, so I have no more money. My picture is me on my car in the Kennedy  parking lot looking sad because I spent my money on my car. My car represents where all my money goes. I took it in the Kennedy  parking lot because i don't have a real job that pays well because I go to school. They Say/I Say: People think about bias as an argument   toward  what they believe in even if it doesn't  make sense or is wrong.  Also, some people think they aren’t bias in anyway, but really they are. People will want to be like this because if they are wrong about something, they will do whatever it takes to make you believe their bias not on purpose. But the truth is people do have a bias for something...

Smile and Pursue happiness, not negativity

Smile and Pursue happiness, not negativity Artist statement I pick this image because this shows my personality and my mood during my everyday life. The image and text work together to show you that I like to be happy and positive and not be negative all the time. The color and brightness work together to represent positivity.  Reflection People don’t think about that they have a bias. They don’t think about that because they don’t react, and they don’t think about what there saying or what they think about a certain person. For example, When I was a kid, I thought people were always respectful and kind to others and I thought that no one had a bias. I thought this because people were always nice when I said hi to them. People always opened the door for me and they always said thank you. Nice but I realized growing up people have a certain bias. For example, in perspectives, the class taught me that everyone has a bias and that everyone’s bias is different from other people a...
